Biography
I have been teaching foraging professionally since 2007, having stumbled into foraging in my early twenties when someone showed me a small, edible plant growing in a stonewall. I was hooked.
Foraging is now an integral part of my life and work, it felt natural after a childhood punctuated with great home cooking, camping, wild flowers, walks, and lots of imaginative play.
My professional background is in environmental education, health promotion (MA) and community nutrition (basically being outdoors, people and good food) and my first degree was in the creative arts and often involved food, plants and nature.
I am the author and photographer of two popular regional foraging identification and cookbooks; Wild Food Foraging in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (2015) and Seaweed Foraging in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (2016). In 2017 my seaweed book won a Gourmand World Cookbook Award in the national category: Fish (as yet there is no seaweed category).
